Designing artistic creative photography work is important because that one special visual image expresses who you are behind the camera. From posing your subject to editing behind the scenes art is being created. Your artsy image has many levels to it. However, I am going to focus on two elements to creating an artistic emotional photographic image. First, let’s talk about bringing emotion into an artsy photogenic image that connects with the audience and the subject. Second, I am going to talk about how the photographer can remain artsy, emotional, and stay connected to the photography project by designing the art into a photograph.
Bringing Emotion Into The Image
Emotion can be brought into the image by planning ahead the outline of how to execute an artist’s visual image that expresses the emotion you are trying to convey. Designing the artistic emotion of the photo comes before you meet with your client. It begins with the planning of their photo shoot and it carries all the way through the editing. For example, when I am taking photographs for children’s acting profiles I know that the emotion of the photo needs to convey that they are talented, focused, and be visually pleasing. Before I meet with my client I brainstorm different poses that will express their personality through a photograph. I have seen in my work that by bringing the subject’s personality to life art is what is being created, not just amazing photography. Artistic creative photography is emotionally grabbing and expressive a meaning that connects with the audience.
Designing Art Into The Photography
Artistic creative photography is designed into the photography project through the photographers hands. Just because the work is emotional doesn’t mean that the photographs have to be this long production to capture. Sometimes the most emotional photos come from the simplest of things. For example, I was out on a photoshoot to capture visual images for Melissa Smith, a meditation coach for the Circle of Healing and saw how much you can capture that you weren’t planning on. So, I knew going in that the photo shoot that we were needing to be artsy, emotional, and express the message of their business. Although we took many planned and articulated photos some of the most creative photos were the ones we didn’t plan to capture. The photos of falling into the ocean or the wind blowing props all over the place. Those candid photos are the artsy emotionally expressive images that Melissa loved. Because the photographer has the desire to bring art to life and show their artistic creative photography with the world, emotional work is what is being created.
I’ll end by saying that photography comes in many shapes and sizes. Emotional artistic creations are all around us. They are shaping the way we post on social media, how we take pictures of kids growing up, and the images we see on billboards. However, in my photography work I try by best to always create art for my client. Because when they go and post their picture or print them out I desire for them to feel emotionally proud of who they are and that is how I know I did my job as the photographer. Artistic creative photography is created by many elements but the two elements I was stressing today were first bring emotion into your image and second be proud of what you are creating.
